Underwater playground

here are the pictures i promised. courtesy of Ira.

i'm gonna try as best i can to tell you what those things in the pictures are but don't take my word for it. i am no encyclopedia.

Rafi and Jack let us touch some stuff when we first went underwater
mainly just sea cucumbers and starfishes
and here are the pictures.

this looks so wrong... doesn't it? Charlotte couldn't stop giggling like a schoolgirl when one of this was passed around. =p

this is the sea cucumber with the cuvierian threads.
the cuvierian threads stick to your hands and it's hard to get it off.
we were happily going around sticking cuvierian threads on others...
playing catching a.k.a tag underwater.

we were tossing one of these around... is it a kind of starfish?

this i know is a Blue Linckia Seastar
and i know it makes a real nice headress for Rafi.

and we went chasing one of these...
a Cuttlefish!
my new favourite underwater creature.
i find it fascinating how it runs away and changes colours to try and comouflage itself.
it's the chameleon of the sea.
have you spotted it yet?

peek-a-boo! i see you!
these two the blue-spotted stingray and the eel love to hide under ledges and in crevices
so you've really got to open your eyes wide to spot one of these but they are quite commonly seen species.

say hello to Nemo!
i'm sorry i didn't get an autograph for all you Nemo fans.
there are so many of them around... imposters.
will the real Nemo please raise your fin?

here's a humphead parrotfish.
kinda looks like the luo-han...
just the much bigger version.
look at all the normal sized fishes around it... compare.

that's erm... a sea urchin i think.

and here are some fishies.
i don't know what their exact names are but i will find out soon.
still doing my research.

okay... here are the i-dunno-what-they-are-but-they-are-pretty pics.
so if any of you out there can identify them... please do leave me a tag and enlighten us all.
same for the fishies above.

that's just 'bout a fraction of the things we saw.

and here is the best find ever!

a Mermaid!

i guess the scuba equipment spoilt the whole thing. oh well... =p
