The little things of 2006
Working at LAB definitely changed a lot of me. For better and for worse. I brought home the emotional pressures of work and let it into my life. Loved ones were affected by my horrible attitude. Short-tempered and irritable. Being unable to control one's emotions is the most horrendous thing that could possibly happen. I lost control of myself and almost got myself falling into depression. I managed to survive there for an entire year. Still a miracle to me.Thank god for friends. They woke me up with stern scolding and harsh words. One even broke my heart. But all that were necessary and I appreciate it. I can't thank my friends enough for every little thing they have done for me.
Achievements. Quite a few this year. There was no more of those "I'll do it tomorrow/next week/next month/next year/before I reach 30/before I die." As have been mentioned in an earlier post, I learnt how to dive and got my certification and did more diving in Bali. For me, that was the turning point. It came a little late in the year but it's a turning point for years to come. It gave me the confidence that I was able to conquer and achieve anything if I set my mind to it. Getting into the course of my dreams reinforced that confidence and convinced me that dreams do come true.
2006 has also brought about my most embarrassing moment. Mauritian, beach, stars, lost, Dad, torchlight, security. You make out the story. Sigh. But it definitely make that night very much more unforgettable.
There has been a lot of looking at calendars with Priya. So much so it's become a daily routine like brushing your teeth. Marking dates and counting down, contemplating when we are taking leave and not going to work, and when we are going to tender our resignation and kill work altogether. It became our new favourite hobby and I simply love it. I'll miss calendar watching with Priya.
The last few months of 2006 have been simply amazing. The best few months in a long long time. A wonderful end to the year. Now I hope the best for 2007.
