lost and found

5 signs that you have not updated your blog for a long time:

1) Your blog starts looking boring and you start getting sick and tired of that first picture on your last post.
2) Your friends start tagging, asking for an update.
3) You were appreciating Autumn change the colours of the leaves the last time you blog and you now can't wait to show off pictures of the Winter snow in the next post.
4) Your last post was about Easter camp, the break in the middle of semester and now you are done with the entire semester including exams and have already wasted a few days of your Winter holidays.
5) You've got a 101 things you want to blog about, have no idea where to start and it would be certainly impossible to start from where you left off.

Alright, so I've satisfied all of the above and I apologise for being away this long. My poor blog must be feeling so neglected.

my mind's a blank right now and i know i have lots to tell but my thoughts just aren't coming out in a proper stream of words. so for the past half an hour i have just been typing out very lame sentences and repeatedly hitting backspace. so if this entry comes out as a string of crap, you know you can always stop reading and click on the little cross on the top right hand corner.

sigh... i've lost my words, my creativity (what little i've got), my tone and my rhythm. i've got nothing left to write anything proper. and at my worst, i've still got two scripts and a poster design to come up with. i am not complaining. in fact, i quite like doing things like that. i just wish left/right brain (whichever is the creative side) would start functioning properly again for me to get things done. i've been procrastinating i admit and now that Vas is back, i'm feeling the pressure to get things done especially when Vas is the kan chiong spider. =p (should my Big Bro be reading this, he would be very happy to have his thambi do that. right bro? don't worry i'll get down to it... soon.)

First and foremost, let me introduce to all you deprived-of-changing-seasons-Singaporeans... the beauty of Autumn.

i love the colours of autumn and the weather is just perfect.

the colours have gone and the trees are bare. nightfall now arrives at 5pm or sometimes even earlier. mountain tops are dusted with snow like icing on a cake. trenchcoats, boots, beanies, scarves and gloves are paraded along the streets. the birds outside have gone a wee bit quieter. winter is pretty too but just a little too chilly for my liking. yes i get to put on my favourite clothes... all at once... but it's nasty when you can still feel the cold biting into you through all the layers of clothing. still, i am going to have as much fun as i can while winter is here. i am not going to let the cold keep me in.

when winter first arrived, i was pretty much cooped up in my heated room... but only because i was mugging for the exams which is finally over at long last! the exam period was just so draggy because my papers were quite late into the exam period. it means more study time but also means that i had my first paper when my friend has already packed up and left for Singapore. i guess that means i have officially completed my first semester of Uni. still alive and kicking and after 4 dissections, still very much a carnivore. if they had given us a frog rather than a poisonous toad to dissect, i might have sneaked the legs home and cooked porridge with them. yum! (okok... i'm kidding! i wouldn't have. but still... frog legs... yum!)

alright, so here comes the time for some more of those gruesome pictures again. there's no worms involved this time round so Jaz you can finally have a look at my dissections. =) unfortunately, i do not have any pictures of my second dissection, one of a cockroach because by the time i remembered, the cockroach was pretty much a mess already. well not like this starfish isn't a mess but the insides of a starfish is more of a rare sight then that of a cockroach so i've got to capture it.

my messy starfish!

now the toad...
aww... looks like a sleeping baby doesn't it?

i know it looked innocent and all but i still had to pin it down.

and cut it up.

while YY's toad relac one corner and got a tan. =)

So there... my dissections thus far. =p

now that all the work's been done and with the exams over, it's time to head out for a breather. on that very day after my last paper, i went out with my housemates to watch my very first movie here in Hobart. we caught Shrek 3. it wasn't that fantastic although i love the donkey's half-dragon and half-donkey babies and the super pincesses. who would have ever thought that Aurora could have super powers too... falling asleep on the ground and making the bad guys trip. i had a good time out with my housemates and i could just feel that bond among us grow stronger. i'm glad.

right after the movie, Big Bro called me and ask if i wanted to go see snow. like DUH! i've been bugging him to bring me up ever since winter arrived. so we drove up Mount Wellington to experience winter for what it's worth. the roads were frosty and snow covered the sides and the trees even before we got halfway up. the snow covered trees were the prettiest. it's the trees that always bring out the best of the seasons. unfortunately, it has gotten quite dark by the time we got there and the pictures i've got of snow on the trees just would not do the season any justice. i promise better pictures the next time i go up there, which will be next week.
for now... enjoy these...

here's one of a snowman that was not made by us.
credit of snowman goes to a little kid whose name i do not know.
if it wasn't -4 deg or if i had gloves on, i would have made one myself.
but i went unprepared, freezing my ass off and just crave to get back into the heated car.

here's a little snow for you.
the snow falling felt like drizzles and i didn't even know it was snow till i looked at this picture.
Winter's charm captured in a snapshot.

so there goes, flying past me, two and a half seasons and my first semester of Uni.
feeling a little exhausted from the routine of chores and schoolwork but i'm doing alright. i enjoy being in school, i love being able to literally climb a mountain after school, the fresh air that comes with every breath brings me joy, sights and sounds of Hobart is wonderful. i'll be alright.

i have to say though that i kinda miss the bustling city life. the tall buildings. the crowd. the very efficient and abundant public transports. the shopping centres. the peak hours rush. the noise of traffic. the night lights. the fashion parades in Orchard. the heartland malls. HDB flats and noisy neighbours. i miss all the things that i have been trying to run away from all these while. i promise never to complain about them ever again.

alright now, i better leave the library and head back up the hill. it's getting dark outside and i bet it's getting colder as well. so i shall snuggle up with Raffe and Duckie in my warm bed for a bit and start on the scripts.

well well, that's quite a bit to write for a blank mind. no?

my next update: will be featuring special guests Cody and Aaron!

till i find time again...
